The long and the short of the story is that it is a very unsubtle metaphor for religion blinding people to reason and faith being science you can't explain away. However this is hardly a new idea for Doctor Who and the story feels like we're treading old ground.
At the start this feels like a nice old style historical (albeit with an SF theme) which is a refreshing change. Sadly, it transpires that 15th century Italy is a bit dull.
Not very exciting. Plods along a bit and I'm really not that inspired to write much more about it.
