Okay, more catching up. In this case it was because I enjoyed the damned stories so much I forgot to take notes...
Robots of Death
Real blast from the past territory here. I remember getting this on VHS from my local video store back in the days when they weren't being liquidated all over the place. We get an explanation of transdimensional engineering and Leela's introduction to the TARDIS is very enjoyable.
The story itself is a pretty standard murder mystery in a confined space thing. But it's great fun and the cast are fantastic. Enjoyed this a lot more than I remember doing so in the past.
8/10
The Talons of Weng-Chiang
I love this story - very few notes made as I went along as I always go into this with utter glee and anticipation.
This story is beautifully scripted. And, of course, it has the best secondary cast in the world as we meet Jago and Litefoot. The alliterative talents of Mr Henry Gordon Jago are highlighted and his script must have been a joy to perform, especially as he declares how he would have dealt with some ruffian:
"I would have propelled him onto the pavement with punt up the posterior…"
The story features loads of Coppers (even if the Doctor is bloody rude to most of them) and the original Blue Guard!
Did I mention I love the script?
“On my oath, you wouldn’t want that served with onions. Never seen anything like it in all my puff, make an ‘orse sick that would”
Amusing that it is not actually the Doctor who saves the day!
The story gives us a vision of a war-torn future and an evil dictator and it ends with one of my all-time favourite Doctor Who lines:
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Our policemen are wonderful!”
Well, quite.
Just for that it gets...
