This one has been an absolute arse to write about. There’s not much of a story to mention… The Doctor hears a man’s dying (cryptic) secret and then there are 3 episodes of people trying to get it out of him. Then one episode of him working it out, a bit of a fight and then the end.
I think this was an attempt at land-based pirate antics but falls short of the swash-buckler I think it wants to be.
This is a lost story and it is very possible that it loses something in a reconstruction format, so I don’t wish to be too unkind to it.
I genuinely feel that at this point the show had run out of steam and was in need of a change of direction. There have been so many great historical stories up to this point my expectations were fairly high but this just feels like there’s nothing to it.
Not much more to say really. I wanted to enjoy this but I guess I just felt it was quite dull and dragged – 4/10
