I always enjoy visions of the human future. Especially ones where humanity have basically evolved into petulant pillocks.
I do like the basic background of this story – humanity has become dependent on the “T-Mat”, a form of matter transportation that as far as they’re concerned is pretty damned infallible. I like the vision of a world that has become utterly dependent on this one form of technology. So obviously, everything goes mammaries skywards when the supposedly unbreakable technology breaks…
The Ice Warriors are back and they are as good as last time. A bit plodding but very sinister. I think the fact they only come from Earth’s next planet over, rather than some random planet billions of miles away makes them scarier as well.
And their plot is pretty decent. Wipe humanity off the face of the Earth by turning it into the same sort of atmosphere as your own home planet. Winner.
Sadly, they seem to be depending on it not raining as their superb technology gets screwy around water. I guess that’s Britain safe then…
On the face of it I guess this could have been made over 4 parts rather than 6 but, actually, this doesn’t feel too long. I viewed this as 4 episodes together then the last 2 the following day and it never really dragged.
Pretty entertaining but not spectacular – 7/10.
